7" Touch Screen - Black Screen

Thu Feb 27, 2020 12:42 pm

We are trying to connect a 7" touch screen to a Pi 4 and it seems really straightforward however, when we turn the Pi on the screen remains black.
We have double/triple checked the connections - nothing.

Our touch screen did not come with a DSI connector cable in the box but we do have a spare CSI cable - will this work? I thought I had read that either a DSI and CSI cable will work. Can anyone confirm this?

Any assistance or tips/tricks is very much appreciated. :)

Thank you!

Exactly what screen do you have? Can you post a link?
If it did not come with a flex cable it's unlikely you can use the DSI interface...

This is the one we have but we did not see the white DSI connector in it so we used a different one we had (CSI connector cable) - it also seems that there isn't a replacement connector that you can just order by itself. After searching online, I've read people say that you can use any connector cable either DSI or CSI.

cable for DSI/CSI is the same.

be sure to connect the FFC the right way: https://www.raspberrypi.org/learning/ad ... e/display/

You also need to supply 5V to your display (use seperate USB power supply to start with).

Thank you for the info aBUGSworstnightmare!

I'm so glad to hear that the cables are the same, good news. We will also check out the link you posted to ensure things are connected the right way.

Many thanks!

Update on my previous issue...

We switched out the Pi 4 for a Pi 3B+ and no issues!

We plugged the Pi 4 into a regular monitor and all we keep getting is "No Signal Found", it doesn't recognize the display. So it turns out that it's not the 7" touch screen, it's something to do with the Pi 4.
