Timekoin is an encrypted peer-to-peer digital currency project. Its design does not require high end machines to maintain itself, merely moderate specs for both RAM & CPU and some good storage space.
Because of this, the Raspberry Pi small design and good specs make it perfect as a peer node for the network. A Raspberry Pi would allow the non-technical user a plug-n-play setup to get into the Timekoin network and at the same time, it could be a dedicated device to help maintain it. At the price point for the Raspberry Pi, how could anyone refuse?

Finally got a hold of the new raspberry pi and loaded the image for Arch Linux from the website here. After only a few package installs (basic LAMP) and a few tweaks, was able to fire up a working Timekoin peer. Very cool! 
Usually our low end machines for testing are +1.1GHz machines, but so far this little Raspberry Pi @ only 700MHz outperforms them very well. I did not even buy a high-end SD card for the Pi, just a discount store special and performance is still great.
I can foresee this being a very important future component for the future of digital currency because it so small and affordable, it truly puts the power of open and custom computing back into the hands of the individual now. When a new image for the pi is made, it will certainly be posted up on the timekoin.org website for everyone to download so they can all experience the raspberry pi power running Timekoin.
