Latest raspbian update has unexpected effects

Thu Feb 13, 2020 2:50 pm

I ran the latest raspbian update (sudo apt full-upgrade) and now the opened windows don't respond to the buttons : they cannot be closed with the 'x' neither minimised with the '-' nor maximised/restored with the 'square'.
Also the key shortcut Ctrl+alt+delete and ctrl+shift+Escape don't operate at all ...

Any suugestion welcomed !

Can you try another apt update apt full_upgrade - there was a change last night, although not for this which has not been reported and doesn't happen in our tests.

It's an odd one then. No idea what it could be. You may need to reinstall the desktop and associated bits and pieces. Not sure how to do that but others will know.

Try Preferences → Appearance Settings → Defaults, and choose one of the "For large/medium/small screens" options. This should reset the desktop.

James: I had my recurring "can't move or close windows" come back yesterday after adding the Desktop Pager to the panel on a fully patched and up to date Raspberry Pi 4. It seems that changing the number of Desktops via onconf (as that's what I think the pager uses) still has an odds-on chance of making windows freeze.
