Re: Pimp my Pi competition

Thu Jan 26, 2012 5:06 pm

Hi all,

Once the Pi starts shipping we are going to be running a "Pimp my Pi" competition every month on the Frambozenbier.org website.

http://www.frambozenbier.org/i.....pimp-my-pi

End users will submit designs to the showcase and the community can vote for a winner every month.

...But first we need a logo for the Pimp-my-Pi section.

So if anyone out there would like to design a PMP logo and post it here we would greatly appreciate it, and we will let the rest of the people here decide which one they like best.

Also, if anyone has already started making a custom case or RasPi mod, got a RasPi overclocked at 8Ghz with liquid helium, or if you've seen somebody elses mod any want to tell everyone else about it please email us at: pimp@fram....org and we will get it up on the site ahead of the launch.

Thanks

(answering my own post)

Just wondering if we should include all of the "virtual" mods and cases in the "cases" thread on the forum, even though we haven't seen any "real" mods yet?

Ooh, cool. I'll certainly be entering this once I actually get my RPi (I won't be doing so for some months yet, though).

I'll try to contribute a logo design later if anything comes to me, but might I suggest not to use "Pimp my Pi", and rather "Pimp That Pi"?

The reason I say this is because once upon a time, humourous giant-food-making site "Pimp my Snack" fell foul of Viacom's lawyers, and had to change their name to "Pimp That Snack", instead.

And yes! To get started definitely include the "virtual" ones.

Ok, here's my effort (small version, sized at 12.5%, posted here - I'll upload the full-sized .xcf if anyone wants it)...

It was made in GIMP, with the SVG version of the Raspberry Pi logo that Burngate provided a little while back as the base. It's wearing this hat, a modified version of these sunglasses, and this stick, turned upside-down for his cane.

The font is Groovy Fast, by Zdenek Gromnica.

I had a laugh making this - I hope someone else likes it, too.
