Which 20" + touch monitors are known to work with Rpi's

Mon Feb 10, 2020 2:47 pm

I'm looking to purchase a few touch screen for use in Non Profit museum for public exhibits.
Going through the old posts , most of the data is a bit dated so would appreciate hearing any info about "which 20"+ touch monitors are known to work". Would like to limit this to HDMI device(s) Not DSI

Please include -
Maker and model number of display -
If ANY drivers are need or is Plug & Play -
Is it advertised as a USB/Hid device
Is the touch functionality just single-touch or mult-touch (regardless of monitor specs)
Was calibration problematic - please explain
Is the touch functionality consistent with Desktop, System Apps & 3rd Party Apps
On the RasPi Side
Raspi Model
OS.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, I'm sure the information will be very useful to many as the prices continue to fall on larger touch screens.

Here is my idea with using a large touch screen with the RPI computer if you lower the desktop resolution instead of using the native screen resolution the desktop will appear larger which means touch response should be more precise, in comparison to using a 7 inch touch screen which is not bad at the same time not exactly recommended either Raspbian OS will not replace a Android tablet, anyhow touch screen monitors should only be plug, and play touch screen monitors will have multi touch, here is a monitor I found on Amazon that has built in speakers, 10 inch display 2K screen resolution, the monitor is compatible with the RPI computer here is a link to the product:

Unless you test heavily, the responsiveness of a resistive screen will feel poor to a user in comparison to any modern phone for an end-user.

Be sure to try one first. I didn't see a mention of the type you want to source, but if you are searching by the price, you'll most likely find resistive models first. Resistive screens mostly get the right dot when touched. But, coding or finding debouncing drivers may be an issue. Plus, a resistive screen is never multi-touch.
