Audio on second HDMI port when only using second HDMI port

Mon Jan 20, 2020 9:10 pm

Is it possible to set audio to work on the second hdmi port (the one closest to the 3.5mm headphone jack) when that is the only port an hdmi cable is plugged into? I believe it is called hdmi1 or hdmi 1?

The micro to hdmi adapter I have is to fat to fit comfortably next to the power cable, so I've been using the second port.

Video and audio works when plugged into the first port on both my TV and my monitor, but it puts way too much stress on the connectors.

Video works on my TV and my monitor using the second HDMI port, but I can't get audio. Is there a setting I can change to force audio out over the second HDMI port, or should I just buy a better fitting cable?

Thank you.

I found a solution to the problem here.

Code: Select all

amixer -q cset numid=3 3
I should have mentioned earlier, but this is the version I'm on:

"Raspbian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)"

"Linux raspberrypi 4.19.93-v7l+ #1290 SMP Fri Jan 10 16:45:11 GMT 2020 armv7l GNU/Linux"
