The Sakaka kernel needs a script for the installed OS. The Raspbian people should use the arm64 package you created with new raspbian features. It just works. I originally used PINN but I prefer freedom setting up the image on sdcard and doing modifications.
As for Raspbian features, I'm not so sure. My aim for Debian64Pi is for it to be as close to stock Debian as possible with few modifications. If you look at Ubuntu MATE 16.04 for the RPi, for example, it has a lot of Raspberry Pi software which can be useful for some but can also ruin the authentic experience of an OS like Ubuntu or Debian.
If there is enough demand I will consider releasing a special image with Raspbian apps and stuff in. For now, if you want the functionality so badly, you can always edit the script yourself to create an image with this stuff. The script you should be looking at is stage2 if you want to go ahead and do this, as this is where most of the OS setting up is done.
