usb hub hi and slow speed devices problems

Sun Dec 16, 2012 10:34 pm

hi guys!

i seem to have a problem with my pi, i have a powered usb hub and i have on it a usb memory stick, my usb keyboard/mouse and a usb-serial converter

im running lxde and every so often the usb stick dissapears and comes back and i get a box on lxde saying 'removable hardware device inserted what do i want to do with it' and when this happens it crashs all my other devices on the same hub! but they then come back! if i remove the memory stick and put it straight into the usb port on the pi its ok and no problems

the only thing i can think is memory stick is a fast device and the others are not!

any 1 had simular problems or know how to resolve????

cheers guys

Yes this is a well known problem which has still not been fixed. Mixing high speed and low speed
devices doesn't work unless you force everything to be lo-speed.

I get random disconnects of memory sticks and usb HDDs. Its very annoying and makes some
obvious projects like a media player or a music server unworkable..You can never predict when the
HDD or memory stick is going to disconnect.
