I have wheezy on my sd card, the version from july I think. I have xbmc working on it (tomaz version).
This image have been updated regularly, until the beginning of october.
A few days ago I decided to update it again, and did the usual apt-get update followed by the upgrade.
Restarting the pi and it booted up fine, but if I let it autostart xbmc it starts to load it but gets stuck on the xbmc logo - and the xbmc logo starts to flicker. At this point I must pull the power. If I interupt the startup before xbmc and uses startx it does start up the desktop and works as it should.
I have two sd cards with almost the same setup, so I also tried to upgrade the other card. Also tried to use rpi-update and apt-get dist-upgrade but every time it ended with a flickering xbmc screen.
I then tried to download the latest wheezy version and installed that on the sd card. Then I did try to install xbmc on top of this. But after this the pi does freeze during startup.
I wanted to have an image with both desktop and xbmc available, so my last try was to install xbian. Xbcm worked fine on this until I installed xorg and lxde on it. Then that image failed to start up as well.
Luckily I do have recent backups of my sd cards, so I restored to my old version and have xbmc working again.
Have anyone else encountered any similar problems with recent wheezy versions and xbmc, or xbian and lxde for that matter?
Also any suggestions for how to upgrade my image without loosing xbmc would be welcome.
