installing image issues

Tue Dec 11, 2012 3:12 pm

Hey all,

I am really getting frustrated, I got the raspbian image from element 14 and it works great, so I picked up 2 class 6 sdhc pny 8g cards to install bohdi pi and arch arm. However, no matter what method I use dd, win32diskimager, fedora graphical installer and it will never seem to boot either of the PNY cards. Am I doing something wrong? I checked the wiki and the cards are listed as working.

Thanks,

Cairne

You've got Raspbian working, I assume on a different card, but neither bohdi nor arch work on the 8G cards.
So have you tried putting Raspbian on one of the 8G cards?

If you successfully loaded Raspbian to your first card, but can't load it on an 8G card, maybe it's a card problem.

If, however, raspbian was on a pre-loaded card, I would start by asking whether your flashing method is correct.
In particular, I would ask if you are using an internal SD card reader, or an external USB one. Some internal ones just don't work!

Yes raspbian came on a preloaded card.I did not think of trying to put a copy of raspbian on one of the 8g card. I am using an internal card reader in my desktop running ubuntu 12.04 dd and windows 7 for fedora and win32diskimager. When I view the files on ubuntu it shows all the files. I will try with a use stick adapter I have. Thanks
