No, yes and no.

No, you can't install full-fat desktop Windows.
Yes, you can install Windows IoT cut-down UWP version on RPi2B, 3B and (with some pain to get a beta version) 3B+
No, you can't install any flavour of anything from Microsoft on a 4B.

Lots of previous forum threads on this topic.

The conclusion for all practical purposes is as already stated...

If you want to run a Microsoft Windows Operating System, buy hardware that Microsoft state to be compatible. At the present time that does not include any model of Raspberry Pi board.

Are you boxing your RPi, installing windows and roofs and doors, front porch and such....? A diorama perhaps?

here is an example

Sorry, I don't know what you're trying to achieve and it's more than four years since I tried Win10 IoT on a Raspberry Pi 2B (before getting very bored with it).

Step one is to understand that Windows IOT is not Windiws as you expect it to be.

Step two is to go to the raspberrypi.org website and find the downloads section.

From there you will find "Windows 10 IOT".
Step three is if you have a Pi2b or Pi3b only, download it.

Step four is to follow normal install procedures.

Step 5 is realize the OS will not run Windows applications and is not what you expected and repeat steps one and two, then substitute Windows 10 IOT with Raspbian. Note that Raspbian will work on all Pi models.

Return to “Windows 10 for IoT”
