Hacking Source

Mon Dec 10, 2012 8:25 am

Hi There,

I was wondering if it would be possible to have a dedicated page on the Raspberrypi.org site for hacks?? It's sometimes a bit hard to even find a post which I have already read and would like to try out at home myself.

Would probably need to define hacks. One trick I use is to bookmark or watch the thread then when I have the info I want unwatch or unbookmark the thread.

Hacking and Hacking Source has way too many meanings to different people.

I would say it's more from the hardware aspect.

Where people create tutorials and so on for using X or Z piece of hardware. Like how to interface with an LCD. Or how to get the temperature from a sensor.

I find that it's easier to grasp a concept by replicating and fiddling with someone else's project.

I totally agree with both of you. We need a hard ware "hacking" directory. But, it needs a better defining. Like, "Pi GPIO hacks" or what ever.

As above; perhaps make a new post GPIO Hacks etc. I have been running electronics PD courses in and workshops in NZ providing free resources in the NZ schools scene. I am adding Pi to our courses in 2013 with an emphasis on the Pi GPIO electronics interfacing. I hope to set up a post for interested Kiwis and teachers esp who would be interested. I travel up and down country running electronics workshops already so we can run sessions for Pi wherever 'two or more are gathered in one place' etc...

Over the years I have developed free "Open Sauce" (sic) hardware interface resources for picaxe. I work in NZ schools with teachers and students doing project work. I now hope to 'break out' into the wonderful world of Pi with a special focus on GPIO Hardware Hacking.
