Hi All
I am looking to build a very simple remote control device for my father who recently lost his sight following an operation (so he isn't very mobile or steady with his hands). My plan is to have a very simple remote (with no more than a few very large, well spaced buttons) that will control the Pi, switching on various programmes:
- Switch 1: run a "talking clock" app to tell him the time
- Switch 2: turn on/turn off an internet radio app
- Switch 3: volume up
- Switch 4: volume down
- Switch 5: "call for help"
I plan to put the Pi in a case with a speaker (wifi dongle, etc.) so the only thing he has to worry about is finding and orientating the remote.
My question is: how can I best get the 4/5 switches to remotely transmit to the GPIO on the Pi. It needs to be capable of running off a battery.
I don't have any sort of hardware background, but am ok with the programming side of things.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Ronan
