Why does Astro Pi on the space station need six buttons?

Sense HAT has only a five-button joystick.And Sense HAT API reference also indicate it is only the up/down/left/right/middle.There's also an Any state.
But in addition to u/d/l/r, there are also A and B on the shell of AstorPi.A and B are middle?If one of them is middle and the other one is any.This is absurd.I don't get answers in many PDF documents.I need help.
Another question, AstorPi's camera is at the bottom, so what does the top hole do on joystick's right and AB buttons left?
My budget is very limited and I need to understand the composition of AstorPi to save money.Looking forward to your answers.Thank you very much!

so were likely added for NASA to allow the ISS crew some extra control (stop/go buttons?).

The hole is to allow cabin air to reach the temp and humidity sensors.

I found another page about the button representation. According to this description, button A or B may be used to synchronize the clock.

No one knows - it is standard operating procedure that the future is never told till it arrives Mr Upton is allowed to break this rule a little but the engineers will not be bribed (even with tea and cakes).
