SD card read failure

Wed Jul 03, 2019 6:00 am

Would unexpected power failure cause SD card to be damaged ?

I have several Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ and I have installed the operating system (Raspbian Buster with desktop。Version:June 2019) and it can work normally.
After a few time unplug power calble when PI still working ,PI can't read the contents of the SD card and it only has a flashing red light not green light when I turn it on, and then I change another SD card, it can work again.
The damaged SD card cannot work on any other PI, after I format it and reinstall OS, it can work again.

Would unexpected power failure cause SD card to be damaged or data missing ?

Yes ! ! ! !

This is the same effect as having a bad power supply. With a little bit of effort you can find enough information in the forums why an uncontrolled power loss can be catastrophic to the contents of the memory card.
