RPi4 vcgencmd display_power

Fri Jun 28, 2019 5:54 pm

I want to switch the HDMI output of my Pi4 on and off.
The Pi is connected to a monitor (official HDMI-cable on the HDMI output near to the USB connector) to run Kodi on the latest Raspbian. Also I'm running Pihole on it. So the Pi must be running 24/7 but the monitor should be switched of if Kodi is not needed.

I read that I should be able to disable the HDMI output by using

Code: Select all

vcgencmd display_power 0
I tried running it from ssh and locally on the Pi as well as running it as pi or root.

I always got the same output

Code: Select all

and the monitor is still showing an image.

Do I need to change something to use this on the Pi4?

I have exactly the same issue.
I'm using the PI4 and a screen as a digital photo frame. I need to turn off and on the screen at specific time, using crontab.
This was working perfectly well with my PI3 for months, and do not work with PI4 and the same screen.

Does "vcgencmd display_power" issue is planned to be fixed ?
