Python IDE

Wed Jun 26, 2019 10:59 am

Hi can anyone recommend a Python IDE that I can run on a windows machine and connect to the python on my pi remotely,
I looked at pycharm but it's expensive and has a subscription, and for the odd basic work, it's an overkill for me

If you are a student or contribute to or publish open source software, PyCharm Professional is available free of charge. If not, you can use visual studio code https://code.visualstudio.com/. It supposedly supports remote debugging: https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/remote/ssh. I have not used this feature and personally find VS Code to be somewhat obnoxious to use - just my opinion - your mileage may vary. ;)
