I am trying to create a prototype for a project of mine which uses Raspberry Pi Zero W and a bunch of external modules.
Basically, I want to control 3 Nema17 stepper motors and a 12v solenoid for a tactile machine. For stepper drivers, I'll use 3 A4988. Since I want to create an enclosure for the Raspberry, control it via WiFi and the put all the components on a PCB I want to power everything using a single source.
I can run the stepper motors individually and power them using a 12v power source but I am a bit confused about powering the Raspberry board without using a micro USB.
I am planning using a power supply with a 5.5 jack like this one https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-100-240V ... B019Q3U72M.
I found a similar project in https://hackaday.io/project/86834-raspb ... thololgy-1 which uses a tiny LM2576 module like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/LM2576HV-LM257 ... 0976351390 . The step-down module can power the board with 5V, I am just not quite sure if the approach is correct.
Has anyone designed a similar project? Any recommendations, assistance or tips will be highly appreciated.
