Raspbian Stretch apt update/upgrade now dead

Sat Mar 09, 2019 9:01 pm

I'm sorry I don't remember all the details of "whodunit," but sudo apt upgrade is now dead because of a "list changes" report script embedded in the upgrade of wpasupplicant. As far as I can tell, there is no way to exit the list changes report screen without aborting the upgrade process. And so, running the sudo apt update command still shows the same updates available. I'm sure there must be a workaround, like telling apt not to update wpasupplicant, but that's not the right thing to do,,,

Remove the changes, restart, and try again.

The changes kill my WiFi, so removing them and rebooting reestablishes the WiFi.
