Hardware keep hanging

Thu Nov 22, 2012 10:20 am

Hi all!
I've just received my second rPI.
So I'm not totally newbuy to this HW/SW.
The model B keeps blocking/hanging and disconnecting the ethernet without any reason.
Also connecting any USB pen/Wifi dongle seems to loop on connect disconnect usb periferal.
Even turning on the led for the caps lock seems to make the rpi going crazy.

Seems a pure hardware problem.

How can I demonstrate that? How can I've a refund/part change?

I would guess that it is your power supply at fault.
I had a similar problem and changing to a decent psu solved it.

I've changed 3 different supply
the problem exist only with one board and with all the pwrsply.
So
nope :) it's not a power supply/powerchord problem

For Everyone that have buyed a faulty RaspberryPI from RS:
there is a form to print and compile:
http://authenticate.rsdelivers.com/stat ... nsform.pdf
You'll have to repack your rpi and send it to rhe address on the form

Have a nice day ;)

Are you sure another psu won't cure it?

I forgot to add that I had to throw out the wifi dongle when I got the new psu. I mean, what's the point of being wireless when you have a powered hub and well regulated psu plus keyboard, mouse and associated spaghetti attached, a bit of cat6 isn't going to spoil the look of it, is it now?

You really should try another psu, just to be on the safe side.

Probably better to try a powered hub and see if that fixes the problem just in case you've killed the fuses...

I'm sorry probably I've not explained the problem very good (probably for my bad english).
The RaspPI keeps hanging with or without the wifi dongle attached.
Even after a pair of minutes of video playng it simply stops working and all the leds but the red one stops
The screen freeze and all the activity stops.

There is NO WAY that the problem is the PSU because I'm using the same PSU on other 2 raspi without any problem.
Same for the SD (same sd from another raspi same problem).

The only common thing to all the problem is the raspi itself, so it's broken =).

I've power outlets everywhere in my house but only a ethernet cable in one room..
If i want to create a media center in another room I'll need to wifiZe my rpi
