Is FSUSB42UMX surely need for Compute module 3+

Hi guys i saw this new module and got few questions

we can design a diy development board for this but do we surely need to use the Chip FSUSB42UMX for it

and i am even adding a LAN9514 to it so i can add 4 usb and a ethernet for my projects but it seems to connect this lan9514 to one of IO of FSUSB42UMX
what is its task here can i remove it and use it without the chip

please help me in this

If you connect the USB port of the CM (any flavour) direct to a hub or peripheral then you can not switch the USB port on the CM to device mode. If you're using a CM with embedded EMMC, you now can't program it in situ.
(If you're using the CM3(+) Lite then this doesn't matter as you can externally program the SD card.)

The FSUSB42UMX allows you to disconnect your hub/peripherals from the USB port and switch to USB device mode.
