Pi Compute Module 3 DISP0/1 & CAM0/1 Adaptors

Wed Jan 09, 2019 6:21 pm

Hi Folks-
I bought a "Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3 Dev Kit" from RS-Components and found there are NO adapters for the CAM0/1 and DISP0/1 ports on the IO Board. Apparently previous version of these kits included one for each. When I went to buy some, their status was listed as "No longer stocked*" for the "CMDK" DISP adapters while the CAM adapters ARE sold*, but for CM1 and can't confirm these are compatible with the newer CM3 IO board I'm using to prototype with.

Given the CAM & DISP ports are smaller on the Compute Module IO board then their counterparts on the Pi 3B+, an adapter is NOT optional. But neither are adapters included with the CM3 Dev Kit or sold as optional extras!!!! I've Googled from every angle and can't find an answer to this catch-22 situation...

* CAM0/1 Adapters sold for CM1:

**DISP0/1Adapters "No longer stocked" status:

The adapters are compatible with both cm1 and cm3.

Full schematics for cmio boards and adapters are on the raspberrypi.org website should you need them.

Adaptors for the Pi Zero camera port also work with the CM1/CM3 CSI ports and I believe also the DSI ports.

CSI ports, yes. DSI port, NO.
There's a note to that effect in the docs page now iirc.

For info, https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... display.md
Note: The Raspberry Pi Zero camera cable cannot be used as an alternative to the RPI-DISPLAY adaptor, because its wiring is different.
There was a forum post recently where another person was having issues connecting a display due to using a Pi0 camera cable - viewtopic.php?f=98&t=123896&hilit=Compu ... 5#p1373622
