Pi 3 Black screen after display resolution changes and reboot

Hi,

I am facing issue with RPi 3, it was working fine till I decided to change the screen resolution. I changed the screen resolution, I got an onscreen pop-up asking me for a reboot so that the changes could take effect. I clicked on "ok".. That's all! from that time I have a black screen.

I see a red light and flickering green light on the Pi.

I am using raspberry os, and I know that the OS is not corrupt, I can say this because I see LEDs glowing when I connect my LAN cable.

Also I have tried to solve this issue by a hardware reset using the "RUN" pins on the chip, but this does't help me.

Is there any way to change my screen resolution without re-flashing the OS on the SD card? Perhaps changing the config on the SD card using a card reader?

I am using TV for the display and I was having problems seeing the task bar on the screen. I am a newbie to Pi and I thought changing screen resolution would help me, but it has caused more troubles!

So how did you change the resolution on the Pi?

You need to set the screen overscsan values in config.txt if you are missing edges of the display.

I could change the resolution because I could see the screen initially.

You can SSH in if you have another device and SSH is enabled, or you can try the SD card in another Linux computer and edit the file you must have edited in the first place to change the resolution.

On a windows machine I edited the config.txt file.

I changed the hdmi_mode to 16.

This has solved the issue.
