PI Camera picturing grey lines

Sun Dec 16, 2018 5:47 pm

I connected a v2 Pi NOIR camera to a Pi Zero W and the jpg image it records only contains grey vertical lines, rather like an untuned analog TV set. I have tried viewing the image at different sizes and orientation, but there is no discernible image that I can see - it is definitely generating a jpg of something, though. There are no obvious error messages when I use the ‘-v’ option. I updated to Raspbian 9 (stretch) last week and I did initially install the ribbon cable upside down. Is the camera damaged or is this something I am doing/not doing? Any guidance welcome at this point.

Hi Stephen,

Did you ever get this issue sorted? I'm having the same issue although I have the V2 version of the camera rather than the noir.

I can take images and videos but it's just grey noise.

Thanks
