Official RPI 7" touchscreen display support for community Operating Systems

The official 7" touchscreen only seems to work with raspbian. How can I use the display with android, RetroPie, or other OSes?

I would expect this to work - the running of the LCD and touchscreen is done by the GPU firmware, and there is a custom framebuffer driver in our Linux kernel tree to create a FB based on that. If the LCD is attached that is the display that is used. If your distro of choice doesn;t work with the LCD, then not sure what they have done to break it.

The display only turns on and works with Raspbian and not any of the other OSes I have tried. All I changed between OSes is the flashed micro SD card.

Sorry, cannot really help then. You'll need to approach the originators of the ones that don't work to fix their stuff.

Retropie (collection of various software) latest is based of Raspbian Stretch so that should work OK

It can be done without Raspbian, in Ultibo it works fine.
