I use OpenElec in my room on my monitor via HDMI and the avi's work fine.
Downstairs I have a TV that hdmi doesn't work on so I bought a HDMI to vga converter and the pi works fine with mkv's and mp4s(Not all though)
But avi's and some mp4's only play sound at my tv goes out of range.
I think the problem is the vga converter reports it can do every resolution the pi sends it a resolution for the avi file that it thinks the tv can handle it converts it to vga then the tv can not handle that resolution.( I think 1280*720 doesn't work)
But everything works fine with the mkvs(Actually human planet doesn't work)
So my question is, is they anyway to force the avis at a resolution or anyone else with a similar problem and solution.
