Error 179.7

Mon Oct 08, 2018 3:08 pm

Ran NOOBS installation from Download forum to brand new 32Gb Class 10 SanDisk micro SD card - all went ok (Although it took 2hrs and 5 min to download) then on completion it went directly to updating and there I was finally met with the following message :-
[2.17883] - - -[end Kernal panic - not syncing:UFS:Unable to mount root fs on unknown - block (179.7)
At this stage nothing would work mouse or keyboard so had to cut power supply to exit
Tried another brand new 32Gb Class 10 SanDisk micro sd card and the same thing happened again
Any solutuions or simply should I try another make of sd card?

I would guess your download got corrupted.

Unless you have a good reason to want NOOBS, in my opinion you are better off downloading the Raspbian image, checking the checksum and burning it to your SD card with Etcher.

jbudd.....
Thanks for your prompt reply - I think you are right - took your suggestion to download Raspian direct but ran into trouble because fat32 doesn't accept downloads over 4Gb and Raspian is just over that - so converted sd card from fat 32 to htfs (downloads up to 8Gb) - Raspian then downloaded OK but the sd card does not run on Raspberry Pi 3 - met with just a blank screen
Any suggestions please?
Beginning to feel away out of my depth

You can't just copy the Raspbian download onto the SD card.
Download it onto a PC.
Use Etcher to burn it to the card.
No need to unzip Raspbian or format the card.
