LOSING MY MIND: Read-write to \home\pi over FTP

Sun Sep 16, 2018 4:13 pm

Thanks for reviewing this issue. I'm at my wits end. I've up and down my SSH config and chmod, chown trying to be able to edit scripts over FTP on my macbook and save them back to their original location on the PI. Each time I get the error that it's a read only system. I set up a separate folder home/pi/FTP/ and set up the chmod permissions for JUST that location, to no avail. Thanks for any help.

Which direction are you going? Are you copying from OS X to the RPi or vice versa?

I presume you mean SFTP and not FTP. If you really have been trying old, deprecated FTP, please try switching to SFTP. That should give you the exact same system permissions as you have normally.

Also, OSX and GNU/Linux use forward slashes / and not back slashes \ for directory hierarchies. The backslash won't work in that context because it means to take the character immediately following the backslash \ to be interpreted literally.

Filezilla is available on the Mac, and the Pi! (and Windows if you must!)

Works perfectly for me.
