Get a python game running without desktop.

Sat Sep 15, 2018 8:58 am

I have downloaded a file from github that works via desktop. How do i go about getting this to run without it loading the desktop version by using a lite version.
This is what i want to get working.

I had a quick look and it seems to use pygame, so it should be sufficient to install that.
The program would run in full-screen instead of in a window.

The installation instructions are actually a bit dodgy.
It's assumed you're using a pitft screen (GPIO connected small screen)
And the autostart bit assumes you're using the desktop.
So there could be a few problems to solve before you get it working.

Yes. Isn't that what the GitHub repository you cited contains?

How do you start it if you run it from the Raspbian GUI Desktop?

The instructions say to autostart it in the usual way.

I had a better look at the instructions and it's not straightforward to get it running on Stretch Lite with a HDMI screen.
(original instructions are for Jessie Desktop on a PiTFT and they will certainly not work on Stretch)

Maybe OP could ask the creator by creating an issue on Github: https://github.com/martinr1000/AliensMo ... ker/issues
