Portable Monitor for raspberry pi?

Sat Sep 08, 2018 1:04 am

I'm trying to choose a portable monitor for raspberry. Could you please recommend some? I'm aware official Touchscreen is the best choice , but I'd prefer to have some other non-touch even, because I'll be using keyboard/mouse or keyboard with a touchpad anyway

Something like this perhaps?

https://www.amazon.com/Kuman-Display-10 ... pi+monitor

A similar one came with my very first RPi3B kit., and still using now....on a different (or experimental) setups....
"Don't come to me with 'issues' for I don't know how to deal with those
Come to me with 'problems' and I'll help you find solutions"

Some people be like:
"Help me! Am drowning! But dont you dare touch me nor come near me!"

It kind of depends on how you define "portable". I consider a 19" monitor with a protective transport cover to be "portable", but not everyone would do so.

Hi, as said already, 'portable' is considerable in many different ways.
https://www.thing-printer.com/product/manga-screen/ is the smallest full-HD monitor I know of.

Suggest you look up Eyoyo monitors.

I bought one a while back, using it right now, mine is an 11.6" (1366x768), running from HDMI, but also has standard VGA for older machines, (as well as a couple of other inputs for security device monitoring), built in speakers too, of reasonable quality.

I have just ordered another Eyoyo, this time, an 8" (800x600), same connection options, & speakers, (my plan is to use this one when doing a lot of text based work - & as a back up).

How about this one that was on this reddit last week? https://www.reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi/c ... confidence I bought one myself its pretty nice. It only needs 5v which can be easily powered by phone charger or a battery bank to make it portable. You have to open the back to get access to the hdmi port, then have a hdmi cable that will fit or shave the connector to size. The hdmi cable needs to be routed out the case through a hole you would have to cut.

I have found Dell S199WFP monitors and the like to be quite portable. They are 19" and tend to come with a small quick release stand so detach easily and fit perfectly into a typical UK 'bag for life' plastic carrier bag which can easily take its weight. A sheet of foam helps protect the screen.

Woven bags will offer even greater protection and one can sew padding into those, add a zip, to turn them into purpose built monitor bags.

Throw the desk stand, cables, and everything else in another bag and you're good to go. Get a monitor with an in-built PSU and you only need to remember the mains cable and signal lead.
