Python 2. 7.

Sun Aug 12, 2018 12:14 pm

Can anyone confirm please that Python 2.7. is now removed from the latest Raspbian Application Updates in favour of Python 3?

I have been using it for some Freenove Projects which currently still utilise the older version.

Thank you.

Looking at the release notes l would assume only the link is removed, so it's still available, and works ok on my pi.

It's still there. It'll be a loooooooong time (possibly never) before Debian shakes out its 2.7 dependencies.

If you need Python 3, use python3.

As @gordon77 says, it's just the menu entry that's been removed. Both versions are still installed.
You can easily add the link in the menu using the main menu editor (should be in preferences). You just have to activate it.

Thank you all.

I had looked in 'Preferences' previously but hadn't checked under 'Main Menu Editor' - but I've found it and got it reactivated now.
