Unknown port open on Raspberry Pi

Sat Aug 11, 2018 8:25 am

I did a port scan using Fing on my Android phone and found that port 38037 is open on one of my Raspberry Pis. Running netstat just shows this:
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:38037 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN -
and ss:
tcp LISTEN 0 64 *:38037 *:

I'm concerned that I have an open port that I haven't specifically opened.

try

Code: Select all

sudo netstat -nltp
the -p flag will show what process owns that port (and needs sudo to do it's lookups)

You don't have an open port. That's clearly an ephemeral connection to some external service.

You may find some ephemeral ports are the RPi talking to itself.
