how to run .exe file on raspberry pi 3

Thu Jul 12, 2018 10:24 pm

I downloaded a .exe package for openspace 3D on raspberry pi, I don't know how to execute it.

Appreciate your help.

For the 1000th time, RPis do not have x86 processors that exe programs are compiled for.

There is a commercial piece of software by Exagear which is an emulator. Whether that can run your exe I won't hazard a guess.

.exe files are normally associated with Microsoft Windows (or MS-DOS). The RPi runs a version of Linux (not Windows), and even if you are using Windows 10 IoT Core it still won't run .exe files.

The only executables you can run are either specific versions for RaspbianOS (or whatever operating system you have installed on the RPi), or ones which will run using an emulator program.

By the looks of it the RPi package is for a plugin that is meant to be installed on Windows where the OpenSpace3D is installed to allow OpenSpace3D to export an app (or whatever) suitable for running on an RPi.

Code: Select all

pi@rpi3:/media/pi/win/Downloads $ file scol_raspberrypi.exe
scol_raspberrypi.exe: PE32 executable (GUI) Intel 80386, for MS Windows
