Re: Will there be a add on board for connection things to the Raspberry PI?

I use ARDUINO to controll motors, servo, dios, relays, photoresistors, accelerators and other input/output stuff.

If there will be a addon shield/board for connecting this kind of things you will have all my future orders with some kind of API for read and controlling analog and digital input/outputs.

What are the plans?

Is that developed within the Rasberry PI project?

(I thougth that was someone outside the Raspberry project that made something on his own.)

The Gertboard is made by the r-pi's very own Gert!  Though to be fair he did develop it on his own apart from the foundation.  Still, it is an official piece of pi, so to speak

That sounds great!

If the API can be really fast I will for sure use Raspberry for all bigger future project and maybe only use Arduino for low power/battery powered hardware.

Guess I have to wait a year until a stackable unit will be out to buy but it will be worth the wait for sure!

Will it be possible to turn off things like HDMI, Soundcard device and other stuff , maybe underclock the CPU to lower the power on the Raspberry PI?

My understanding is that as far as the GPU goes it's very aggressive as far as power goes.  If it's not in use, it turns off that part of the GPU (so if you're not using the HDMI, the HDMI doesn't have power)  Not sure if you'd really save any power even if you could turn off the 3.5mm jack.  As far as under clocking goes... I don't think I've heard of any official news on whether or not that is possible, but you should be able to take advantage of any power saving features the OS offers.
