RTL8192EU not working as AP

Hi folks,

Today, I tried to use my TP-LInk WN823Nv2 (v2, it contains a RTL8192EU) as an AP on my Pi, but hostapd gives some errors whenever I try to start hostapd with my configuration. I installed the drivers and the specific hostapd from http://hackingadventures42.blogspot.com ... point.html (the 'Sidestep for the TL-WN823N' paragraph) and if I start hostapd if gives me this message (

ioctl[RTL_IOCTL_HOSTAPD]: Operation not supported

) many times and a lot other (non-error, only informative) messages). I also tried installing the driver for the chip and hostapd from links provided here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/2586-re ... fi-driver/.

I am using Raspbian Stretch. Does anybody know what to do to make it work? I've also tried this: https://daveconroy.com/how-to/turn-your ... s-chipset/, but it seems that it is meant for version 1 of the dongle (contains a slightly different chip, a RTL8192CU, as far as I know).

I recommend doing a fresh install, then try this:

It's working now. What I did wrong earlier, is that I tried to use a custom version of hostapd which is meant for some Realtek-chips, but that doesn't work for my chip. It seems like it simply works by doing the steps in the tutorial you gave the link of (which I already tried earlier but with a custom version of hostapd) and installing the way described in this post: viewtopic.php?p=1236564#p1236564. So it's working as expected now.
