Transparency

What's the quick cheap way to turn the white background of my ping picture into "transparent"? I'm thinking of something like Microsoft "Paint", but with that one extra button on the color selection. Thanks.

You might take a look at gimp. If that's too complex, see what LibreOffice can do with it, as it has some image manipulation features.

What you need, is to add an alpha layer to your image, and save it as a format that supports alpha, such as png

You will have to remove the white manually though.
Gimp can do this somewhat easily, but the quality of the outcome really depends on the original image quality and your own skill/experience.
