Spotify Music Player for RPI?

Tue Jun 12, 2018 11:07 pm

Could someone tell me if there is a Spotify music app for RPI?

I know there is one for Linux Mint because I use it on my desktop.

Thanks.

There is no official spotify client like the one you get from Spotify themselves for Linux.

You can however find other solutions like Mopidy ( https://docs.mopidy.com/en/latest/insta ... spberrypi/ )

You will need a Premium account for these and there is no guarentee against any breakage, but I have used them in the past.

Raspotify is awesome. I installed it on a RP 3B and it is the only way that I manage to stream Spotify premium Apk to my hifi gear. It works flawlessly and I now run my RP completely headless. I control Spotify trough Spotify connect and a remote VNC connection to shut the RB down.

To be clear, raspotify is just a version of librespot that someone made easy to install. Librespot is the software that deserves praise.

Mopidy provides a more general purpose audio player (online radio, local files, etc) and a Web page user interface. It does not support Spotify Connect.

All of these solutions break from time to time due to the questionable engineering efforts of Spotify.

yep, this is so.

I mostly use Logitech Media Server installed on a rpi3B utilising
Raspbian Stretch with desktop
Image with desktop based on Debian Stretch
This allows VNC access for updating and control.

LMS supports Spotify Connect and has a host of other useful functions (including an alternative to the default wed gui called "Material Skin", which can be used on a tablet or smart phone).

If I want to use a rpi for Spotify-connect only I follow these instructions

http://moodeaudio.org/forum/showthread. ... 174#pid174

They work fine with just a few alterations (name player, start up volume).
