Remote Access to USB Device

Tue Jun 05, 2018 12:52 am

I have a device at work that I need to access data logs on. Normally I connect to it via USB from my laptop, but I want to be able to access it remotely, and not have to be on site. I have a RPi 3 B+, and admin access to the router/gateway. My other issue is that the device requires specific Windows software to access it, and I'm not sure how to tie all the pieces together. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the device requires specific Windows software to access it,

That seems to suggest that you will need to have a Windows system running to provide the physical connection to the usb device? (For the purposes of this discussion, assume that the RPi cannot run the desktop version of Microsoft Windows, nor applications or drivers designed to be run under Windows.)

You could presumably use your RPi as a workstation elsewhere giving remote access to that Windows machine.
