Why do you need a GUI? The Pi2 would use Ethernet, which doesn't need anything special to connect.
Just plug an Ethernet cable into the Pi2, and the other end into the router or gateway and it will be connected.

I've tried connecting it to Ethernet, but was unable to connect to the network to run the upgrade command.
Are there any commands I need to input to connect the Pi to the internet?
Sorry if it sounds basic, it's my first time working with a Raspberry Pi.
