Found out why the signal is weak (Zero W) FYI

Tue May 15, 2018 6:19 pm

There is a missing component (capacitor ?) on the controlled impedance line (coplanar waveguide?)
which results in a significant loss of power. Coverage not exceeding 20 feet from the router.

Probably detached because of the many manipulations.

Looks like somebody did a clumsy removal or it somehow was broken off. The gold plating on the contact surfaces have been pulled up. The component is present on my example and while range is not great, it is better than 20'. I have always attributed it to the tiny antennas...size does count where antennas are concerned, even at microwave frequencies. a full size 1/2 wave dipole really isn't all that huge but it works a lot better than the little Mandelbrot chips. It's called "capture area" and the only substitute is more capture area.
