microphone volume needs boosted 30db+ please help

i have a small creative usb sound card that came with a headset plugged into my raspberry pi running raspbian. how do i boost it that much? i tried the alsa mixer but that didnt do much. i need a lot of boost. the mic came from a bluetooth car radio and was quiet in that application as well. im stuck on using it because when i boost the recorded volume in audacity it sounds very good for my budget.ive already tried full volume and full boost via alsa mixer no result.

my end goal will be to have the mic streamed to my desktop over the internet. if possible i would like to average the gain to -3-6db constant. so will need help with that as well. much appreciated in advance

You can use the alsa softvol plugin. See here for details viewtopic.php?t=204133#p1267389 - make sure to replace the card name in slave.pcm and control.card with the name of soundcard you use.

how do i install and use softvol. i cant find a download or package name that works with apt-get

Perhaps the mic needs a preamp? Mic level is far below line level.

I have no room for it. Application is very compact. If i record and amplify and play back in audacity I can't even tell. Low static sounds like it's in the room talking like the original person.

Also switched to Ubuntu mate and pulse audio equalizer now works like a charm where in raspbian not so much

No need to download anything, the softvol plugin is part of the core alsa library (libasound2).
