Want Pi to output confirmation image on screen

Thu May 03, 2018 10:36 pm

Hi all,

I'm new here, but am having a real hard time finding anything related to what I'm trying to do. So here it is...I'm hoping the community may be able to help me out with this one.

I have a card scanner that has a relay built into it and a dry contact output. I want to wire this dry contact output to a Pi. The Pi would then theoretically be looking for either a normally closed/open circuit on the GPIO pin I use, and based on the switching of that contact, the Pi would show a confirmation image like a big thumbs up or green light or something on the screen.

I'm sure there's a better way to do something like this, I just don't know of it yet, so any help is greatly appreciated!

I understand the Pi may not be the most suitable device for something like this, so any alternatives to make something like this work would be great. I'm envisioning some type of LED screen/tv to display the confirmation and maybe even play an audio clip if that's possible.

Any ideas? I currently have a Pi 3 B+ to work with if that helps at all.

Thanks!

-Chris
