Interface Analogue stick with Pi

What is the best way to interface raspberry Pi with analogue stick(use as game pad) and is easy to communicate with my laptop?

One of the best least bad solutions would be to use Pi Zero W in usb-gadget mode as a HID device ( keyboard, joystick ) for your PC.

… but that won't solve the analogue stick issues. No Raspberry Pi boards have ADCs built in.

Which analogue stick do you plan to use? It makes a difference if it's a bare unit or a USB stick
