rotating screen to portrait mode not with /boot/config.txt

Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:06 pm

Hi there,

In Raspbian on raspberry pi we put "display_rotate=whatever" in /boot/config.txt.
this will rotate screen from the moment the raspberry boots..

Now i'm using an intel nuc with Raspberry Pi Desktop to test and /boot/config.txt is empty...

So where do we "display_rotate=whatever".

I installed arandr , but dont like it, that rotates the screen after the desktop has been loaded.

is there another way ?

Outside/before X server you can rotate via fbcon:

Code: Select all

echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/class/graphics/fbcon/rotate
Or pass a similar kernel option in grub ?
Android app - Raspi Card Imager - download and image SD cards - No PC required !

Since my intention was to rotate the desktop , i ended up using

#!/bin/sh
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --primary --mode 1920x1080 --pos 0x0 --rotate right --output DP-1 --off

in this file : ".profile" in the home folder.

this rotates the desktop 90 clockwise AFTER boot , but its okay

Now im struggling with the touchscreen display "#FB55WH00D-CT-A1-10P" "Touch Touch Device.

On the normal raspberry pi i managed to rotate it using xinput-calibrator, copying that output to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-calibration.conf

anyway still searching and experimenting. looks like its not the same procedure for X86 debian..

last post,

ok found the way to rotate touch input again using this info :

viewtopic.php?t=194273#p1216939

Last piece of the puzzle, similar to what Dougie had mentioned, create a conf file in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ I called mine 90-right-rotate.conf and use the following:
Code: Select all

Section "InputClass"
Identifier "RotateTouchCW"
MatchProduct "FB55WH00D-CT-A1-10P"
Option "TransformationMatrix" "0 1 0 -1 0 1 0 0 1"
EndSection
