Hello there,
I'm new to this forum, so I hope I'm doing this right...
So I got a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ a few weeks ago and I have been using Raspbian as OS. However, I want to try Ubuntu MATE now because I think I might prefer it to Raspbian.
I tried to install MATE 16.04.2 for Raspberry Pi on my Micro SD card (16GB, Class 10, A1). I used Win32DiskImager on Windows 10 to flash the .img file onto my Micro SD card. When I tried to boot the Pi from this card, it stopped at the rainbow screen and showed the lightning bolt symbol. The red LED keeps flashing in a specific pattern.
I read some things online and as far as I've found out, the lightning symbol indicates the Pi not getting enough energy from the power supply. This doesn't make sense though, as I'm using the 5V 3.0A power supply that came with my Pi case, so it's made for the Pi. I also read that people use their Pi with much weaker power supplies and it works for them. Anyway, I tried to use a weaker power supply and it didn't work either. I also tried various different cables.
Raspbian boots up just fine, so the Pi hardware itself can't be the issue. My Micro SD card can't be the issue either, as I had Raspbian installed on it before and it worked fine. I also tried to install MATE on other cards, didn't work.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you very much!
