Power up Raspberry Pi from GPIO pins

Hi guys, I've made a little circuit that can power my Raspberry Pi through GPIO from a 3.7V litium battery. I have 5V in output and I connect the power at 2nd pin and ground at pin 6 but my Raspberry turns on only without SD card and I don't understand why. I missed a configuration on Raspbian?

No, there is no extra configuration needed (or even existing) to power via the GPIO header. Sounds like your power circuit is not able to provide sufficient current.

Have you measured the voltage when the RPi with SD card is connected to the power circuit?

As mentioned, nothing needs to be done in Raspbian. I have several Pi's powered that way. The Pi should boot up just like it does when powered via the Micro USB port.

Minimum current to power up Raspberry Pi from GPIO is 1A or more?

Which Pi?
PiZero and A+ will be fine
Pi2B iirc from mine is fine.
Pi3B is pushing it with 1A, but should do it.
Pi3B+ probably wouldn't.

Also your cables may be dropping the voltage, check what Voltage is at the actual GPIO pins try moving it to 5.1V, but no higher than 5.2V.

What convertor are you using ?

My Pi3B works just fine from ~0.6A
1A should be enough in most cases.

If you don't have anything other than a keyboard mouse connected. Start adding GPIO displays and or other Hats and that all changes.
