PSTN integration?

Mon Apr 02, 2018 5:02 pm

Good day everyone,

Figured I'd ask here to catch the attention of anyone that has knowledge on this type of thing before I got charging headlong into this myself.
I'm working with an intercom system, and we want to implement a raspberry pi into the system for pre-made messages.

I need to find a solution that works with the pi that will allow me to send a dial code, then play a message over the phone line.
Has anyone seen anything remotely like this they could point me in the direction of?

Thanks!

You might br able to do that using a USB connected dial-up modem. That's at least a chunk of the tech you're looking for. Bear in mind that PSTN uses voltages that will fry a Pi in an instant (for instance, IIRC, ringing voltage is 90v) so you need to isolate the Pi from what you'll find on the lines.
