Can't load NOOBS on a new Pi3

Mon Mar 19, 2018 11:00 pm

Pulling my hair out. I just got my second RP3 (My forth Pi) and have been trying to set it up with Noobs all afternoon. I keep getting an error while trying to boot to noobs.

Error resizing existing FAT partition
Fatal: Bad FAT: unterminated chain for \SYSTEM-1. You should run
dosfdsck or scandisk.

This sounds more like a Microsoft error than a RP error. I've tried downloading from different computers, different SD cards, different readers. The only thing I can't change is NOOBS. Can someone give me a clue what to try next? A friend brought over another SD that he downloaded NOOBS on. I tried it and got card and got the same message (above).

Just tried it on another older Pi and got the same results so that might eliminate the Pi as the culpret, Please help!!

Could the Pi be bad?

3B or 3B+?

Which version of NOOBS?

Have you tried using the latest Raspian Stretch image (13/03/2018)?

How was the card formatted? Using what software?

Well, it turned out to be the the SDFormatter software I was using. In all this testing, I never thought to try a different formatter, buit when I did, the problem disappeared. The formatter that was causing me problems was by TUXERA. An older one I use to use worked fine.

Noobs v2.7.0, but as you see above, that was not the issue.

Thanks for trying to help though

No problem, even though I'm not a fan of NOOBS I'm happy you got it sorted.
