Or do you mean like electronic or computer/console games ?

I cant remember if I played "Home Pong" at a friends house, "Astroids" in the arcades or "PacMan" on a rented VCS2600 first.

That I owned myself probably this:

And a bit later it would be Scott Adams Adventureland cartridge for the VIC20. ( came with the machine )

In 1974 I had the possibility to communicate to a computer, via a teletype connected over an acoustically coupled modem.

With that we learned some BASIC.

With that we wrote simple games like Battleships.

A few years later we wrote things like Lunar Lander on the Commodore PET.

A few years later, in the late 1980's the game of Star Glider on the ATARI ST520 ranked me as "cheat" after I achieved a score of 100,000.

I have never played a computer game since.

Well, except for poking at Angry Birds for five minutes when that was a thing.

Oh boy, does the PONG thing count?

If I understand correctly there was no computer in there. Only logic chips.

Muntic0re,

Oh, you mean "first game".

I think that was something to do with burning ants with the light of the sun through a magnifying glass.

Or do you mean like when I was 10 years old and really got into Canasta:

Since this is a Pi forum, I think we should stick to the first game you played on the Pi.

For me, it was the connect four pygame included with Raspbian.

No no.

As this is the "off topic" section the question is quite open ended.

The first "real" games I played were chess with my father.

Being off topic doesn't grant permission to talk about "anything", I've seen more than a dozen threads locked for being 'too' off-topic.

OK, yeah, so the opening post "What was your 1st game?" is what exactly?

It has no relevancy to the Raspberry Pi as such

Yeah - also the first machine I saw and played in early seventies 72? or there abouts. I've never played a game on the Pi. Way too pragmatic these days.

Adventure, via teletype on some far-away main-frame, while I was supposed to be studying maths at an O.U. summer-school.
Later, it got rewritten for playing at home, but neither of the mazes was coded properly.

My first 'real' game was Escape Velocity https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OC76Uflbjw I played it on an old Power Mac I got from my father. I think I upgraded that machine to Mac OS 7 or 8. Golden times!

Before that, I played some games on my fathers NES, but nothing I played seriously or for a long time since it was my fathers, so I don't consider those games to be 'my first game(s)'.

That would be a Commodore 64 version of Boppers. A little cartridge game with the goal of directing a ball to weak spots in the 4 walls, by using a paddle like rectangle towards the middle of the screen. Had to avoid the red triangles while doing this.

Very crude game with terrible graphics (even by 1984 Commodore 64 standards).
26-Bit R15 to 32-bit. 16-bit addressing to 24-bit. ARM and 65xx two CPU's that continue on, and are better than ever. Assembly Language forever :) .

Well, there is the thing for me. If you have a compter then there are so many much more interesting things to do with it than play games.

Those things are the "games" for me.

Of course writing games is a good exercise. Which ultimately leads to getting to grips with creating efficient code, real-time programming, low latency networking, 3D graphics, artificial intelligence and so on and so on.

Heater - “Lunar Lander on the Commodore PET” LOL. Been there, done that. But only during college hours.

First REAL game – Elite, on the BBC Micro

The first ever PC games that I've played was The Sim, as for the console game its the Super Mario, Circus Charlie, Adventure Island, and there's one more I can't remember its name. These games made me forget about the outside world. Now, I still do play the new installation of The Sims, but I am not that addicted to it anymore. I can say that now I have the life that I missed out when I was young. I have a husky to take good care of, I can't let him stay in his for too long just to play a game.
