I had problems installing the new release Raspbian-Stretch

I had problems installing the new release Raspbian-Stretch from Nov.2017
I tried it several times with the same 8GB SD cards that I've used before.
I use the Etcher SD Flashing program like the instructions describe.
These sd cards always worked with Raspbian-Wheezy and Jessie release.
My one sd card still had Raspbian-Wheezy on it and this would still bootup.
When my RPi tries to bootup with the Stretch release, the screen would show the splash screen with the rainbow color box
On the next screen, I see the Raspberry icon in the upper left corner and the new Lightening Bolt icon in the upper right corner
But there's no bootup sequence thereafter, it goes into Reset and repeats the process.
I see the Leds on my RPi follow that sequence over and over again.
At first I thought my power supply was dying, my AC adapter is rated at 2.5A
So I had to continue using the Raspbian-Jessie release for now.
Has anyone experienced any issues with installing Raspbian-Stretch ?

If that is appearing "All bets are off" It appears for a reason, and you'e choosen to ignore it and are suffering the consequences.....

Your first thoughts were probably correct !
Not all 2.5A supplies are "up to spec". It may say that on the case, but that doesn't mean it can supply 2.5A without the voltage dropping below the required value for the PI to function.

Are you able to try a different lead from the supply to the PI ? Thin leads can cause a significant voltage drop.
Are you able to try a different supply ?

PS Stretch vs Jessie difference might be due to Stretch running more processes at once (and thus using more cores) while starting up the system.

ok, I'm not surprised at the quality of these AC adapters,
I've just been working with this same one since the Wheezy release
I don't have a another cable with thicker wires for the AC adapter
But I do have a real 5V power supply with plenty of current,
so I will build a new power cable for my RPi and see if there's an improvement.
I'll have to check the current draw on my bench power supply because I'm curious now
In the meantime, I do like to find a real AC adapter if someone can suggest one
